Shropshire Wheelchair Users Group
Shropshire Wheelchair Users Group was formed in 1992 and each wheelchair user (and their carer/carers) who receives a wheelchair from the Wheelchair & Posture Service (through Shrophire Community Health NHS Trust) is entitled to free membership.
Meetings are held at 12.30 p.m. on the first Thursday in each month (excepting August) at the Disability Resource Centre in Lancaster Road, Shrewsbury. Contributions towards travel costs could be paid on the day to members attending.
Why not come along and join in one of the group meetings, wheelchair users of all ages are welcome but we are particularly keen to involve more parents/carers of children and young adults as due to present members prior commitments their special needs are often under-represented at meetings.
As well as in depth discussions and consultations with the clinicians and management of Wheelchair and PostureService to improve and refine service provision, wider issues of accessibility within the county are tackled. The group has many links with the Town and County Access Groups and other Shropshire based disability related organisations and is willing to raise any issue that might affect wheelchair users or their carers.
Whilst dealing with serious issues and achieving a substantial number of successful outcomes, the group's meetings have a relatively informal and lively atmosphere and you will find a warm welcome awaiting you, if you choose to join us.
