Free Passes for local Carers to the Ironbridge Gorge Museums

The Incline Plane Lift at Blists Hill

Carers of adult residents living within the Telford and Wrekin area can obtain a free pass to visit all the Ironbridge Gorge Museums. The pass gives free access to the Museums for up to 5 people for 5 days.

NB The passes must be booked in advance and collected and returned to the Carers Contact Centre, Liz Yates Centre, Lightmoor, Telford, TF4 3QN. Tel : 01852 240209

Free Weighing Sessions for Wheelchair Users

FREE COMPUTER AND BROADBAND FOR LOW INCOME PARENTS (ENGLAND)

The Government has announced the national roll out of a new programme that will provide 270,000 low-income families a free computer and free broadband access.
The aim of the £300 million Home Access programme is to close the digital and educational divide between rich and poor. Families with children in years 3 to 9 (approximately age 7 to14) who are entitled to free schools meals or are on certain benefits, will be able to apply for a grant to buy a computer and broadband connection from an approved supplier.
Looked after children up to the age of 18 will also receive laptops, and the scheme will offer bespoke packages to provide more support for children with special educational needs.

Warrington Disability Awareness Day

was held on Sunday 10th July 2011

at Walton Hall Gardens, Warrington

DAD is an annual independent living exhibition and a family fun day rolled into one which 25,000 visitors attend. The main aim of the event is to promote independence throughout life and work. The 500 exhibitors at DAD reflect a wide range of support services that help to achieve this aim. DAD is supported by a week of complimentary events, and on the day there are arts, sport and entertainment for everyone.  Next years event will be held on July the 15th 2012, please check out their website for more details.
